“For half a century, a who’s who of interior designers and furniture showrooms has been quietly calling on husband-and-wife team Rolf and Gina Berschneider for their bespoke and private-label upholstered-furniture needs. Aside from Stuart, clients of Gardena-based Gina Berschneider Furniture include designers Timothy Corrigan, Philip Nimmo, Douglas Truesdale and Mark Cutler, along with a weighty list of royal and celebrity patrons.” excerpt from article in the LOS ANGELES TIMES. Executive Team

Rolf Berschneider

Founder

Born and raised in Hamburg Germany, Rolf after completing high school and upholstery trade school, began his apprenticeship at an upholstery company doing restorations for Mercedes Benz. In March 1964, Rolf sailed to Manhattan where he started his career as an upholsterer in the USA. Having saved up for a one-way train ticket, he moved to Los Angeles in January 1966. There, he worked as an upholsterer and as a foreman at a local upholstery company. In October 1968, Rolf opened his own upholstery shop in West Hollywood CA on La Brea Ave. Finally, in business for himself he had to do it all: cutting, sewing, upholstery, billing and delivery. In 1974, Rolf met his wife Gina, and together they moved their shop to a much larger location on Santa Monica Boulevard. Operating this new location in the heart of West Hollywood, Rolf and Gina were able to expand their business to include furniture manufacturing.

Gina Berschneider

President

Gina was born and raised in Switzerland but at age 21 also decided to move to Los Angeles. She had already completed business school in Switzerland and apprenticed for a large construction firm. Upon arrival in Los Angeles, Gina began working as a part time television actress and took classes at UCLA in interior design. She met Rolf in 1974 when she commissioned him as a customer to reupholster a sofa. Who knew this would be the best sale of his life? Having established their furniture business together, in 1985, Gina designed a collection and opened a larger than life showroom right in the heart of West Hollywood. In 1997, Gina and Rolf needed to expand so they moved their factory and production headquarters to Gardena California. At that point, during the dawn of the internet, the founders foresaw the irrelevance of a brick and mortar showroom for their business and continue to thrive through word of mouth and a significant online presence.

Natalie Berschneider Wiweke

Vice President

Born and raised in West Hollywood Sunset Plaza, Natalie moved to Boston Massachusetts to study Information Design and Corporate Communication with a minor in Spanish at Bentley University. After graduation, she immediately joined the family business. She started at the bottom to learn the trade and the business inside and out. Having mastered custom quoting, private label relationships and production, Natalie became partner and Vice President in 2011. Natalie thoroughly enjoys working with her parents and learns from them every day. As a mother of two daughters, she hopes that one of them might tackle this unique career, making Gina Berschneider, Inc. a third-generation family owned and operated business.
